Bio
Raised just north of Toronto in the suburb of Woodbridge, Eric began playing the drums at the age of 5, and by age 12 was enrolled in the Humber College Community Music Program. It was there that he fostered his love for jazz under the tutelage of Canadian jazz giants Kirk MacDonald, Barry Romberg and Don Palmer.
Eric pursued post-secondary education at Humber College, where he was awarded the Sabian Cymbals Award for outstanding achievement. Following the completion of his Bachelors of Music degree, Eric would go on to tour and perform in many cities across Canada, the United States, Europe and the UK.
In 2014 Eric was awarded the prestigious Grande Prix de Jazz award at the Montreal Jazz Festival as a member of Pram Trio, a co-led contemporary Jazz trio. Around this time he was beginning to establish himself as an active member in the Toronto Jazz community, as well as branching off into other musical genres. From 2015-17 he toured the United States and Europe with indie rock band Moon King. In 2018 he joined international sensation Banners for a Canada/US tour. And held the drum chair from 2019 through 2022 with multi-platinum Juno award winning artists, the Tenors. One highlight in particular was getting to play the historic Massey Hall.
In 2022 Eric was nominated for a Juno in the Vocal Jazz Category from having played on Alex Bird’s You Are The Light And The Way album
Aside from working as a freelance musician, Eric Also began venturing into musical accompaniment in the dance community. He’s worked extensively with the Cawthra Park Secondary School program (2017-2023), as well as periodically with the National Ballet of Canada.
